The St. Maryโ€™s Board of County Commissioners has appointed Steven Anderson as Director of Economic and Community Development. Anderson will assume his duties on October 9, 2012.

Anderson comes to St. Maryโ€™s County with extensive experience in economic and community development, business operations and management. Most recentlyย  Anderson served as the President and CEO of Lake County Partners, Inc., in Libertyville, IL, a not-for-profit economic development agency.ย  From 2002 to 2008 he served as Vice President, Business Development for the St. Louis County Economic Council, in St. Louis, Mo.ย 

Andersonโ€™s career highlights include targeted community development efforts to increase opportunities in distressed areas, recruitment and retention of numerous businesses such as FedEx and Motorola, and a strong partnership with Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois.

Anderson holds a Juris Doctorate from the Whittier College School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and History from the University of Missouri.ย ย 

โ€œEconomic and community development is a high priority in St. Maryโ€™s County,โ€ said Commissioner President Jack Russell. โ€œMr. Anderson brings expertise from both the private sector as well as local government, and we are excited to have him as a key player in the future growth of our community.โ€

Anderson will earn a salary of $110,000 per year.
