The St. Mary’s Board of County Commissioners has appointed Steven Anderson as Director of Economic and Community Development. Anderson will assume his duties on October 9, 2012.
Anderson comes to St. Mary’s County with extensive experience in economic and community development, business operations and management. Most recently Anderson served as the President and CEO of Lake County Partners, Inc., in Libertyville, IL, a not-for-profit economic development agency. From 2002 to 2008 he served as Vice President, Business Development for the St. Louis County Economic Council, in St. Louis, Mo.
Anderson’s career highlights include targeted community development efforts to increase opportunities in distressed areas, recruitment and retention of numerous businesses such as FedEx and Motorola, and a strong partnership with Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois.
Anderson holds a Juris Doctorate from the Whittier College School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and History from the University of Missouri.
“Economic and community development is a high priority in St. Mary’s County,” said Commissioner President Jack Russell. “Mr. Anderson brings expertise from both the private sector as well as local government, and we are excited to have him as a key player in the future growth of our community.”
Anderson will earn a salary of $110,000 per year.
