An Indian Head man was killed Friday morning in a three-car crash on Route 225 in La Plata. According to the Maryland State Police, Bobby Gerald Colvin, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident near the Route 227 intersection. Colvin was the driver of a 2009 Audi that was traveling westbound on Route 225 when it crossed the center line and struck the right rear of car driven by John Silva, 78, of White Plains. The Colvin car then struck head on into a 2006 Ford truck driven by Gregory Mack, 58, of Hyattsville.
Silva was transported to Civista Medical Center in La Plata by Ambulance 519. Mack was transported to MedStar in DC by Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 6. Passengers in the Mack truck, a two-year old child; Cassandra Gray, 55, and David Gray, 63, all of Hyattsville, were also transported to MedStar by state police helicopters. The condition of all of those injured in the accident is unknown.
According to the state police, the cause of the accident was Failure to Drive Right of Center. The mishap occurred at 10:41 a.m. Colvinโs body was transported to the Baltimore Medical Examinerโs Office for an autopsy.
