WALDORF, Md. – Firefighters responded late Saturday night to a reported house fire at 2643 Hatteras Circle in Waldorf, where the homeowner awoke to smoke and a small fire on the first floor.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 11:32 p.m. after the caller reported smoke alarms sounding with no visible fire conditions. Crews arrived to find a middle‑of‑the‑row townhouse with smoke throughout the home. The fire, which originated in a plastic storage container inside a first‑floor cabinet, had been extinguished by the homeowner before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters confirmed there was no extension beyond the point of origin and began ventilating the home, which had significant smoke on the second floor.
No injuries were reported.
