SAINT LEONARD, Md. – Emergency crews from Saint Leonard Volunteer Fire Department and Calvert Advanced Life Support responded Sunday evening to a serious motor‑vehicle collision involving a vehicle that struck a building in the Old Glory community.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 7:25 p.m. on April 19, to the 1900 block of Constitution Drive. According to officials, a truck and a Toyota Camry were involved in the crash, with one of the vehicles impacting a building.
It was reported by the caller there was one injured person. No occupants were trapped or pinned, and no fire was present. Dispatchers advised responding units of a possible small fuel or fluid leak and a flagpole in the roadway posing an additional hazard.
Paramedic ambulances and additional support units were dispatched to the scene. EMS personnel evaluated the injured individual upon arrival. A landing site was designated at the Church by the Chesapeake on Brooms Island Road for the dispatched Maryland State Police Medical Helicopters. The patient was flown to a local trauma center.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
