Crystal Kenoya Anderson's family reacts to the announcement of an indictment of a suspect in her murderLa Plata, MD – Angela Anderson, the mother of 29-year-old Crystal Keyona Anderson, reported missing in Prince Georgeโ€™s County in August 2011, was trembling as she approached the microphone at a press conference held Thursday, March 19 at Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office headquarters.

She was asked if she had anything to say to Raymond Daniel Posey III, 22, of Nanjemoy, indicted by a Charles County Grand Jury with the murder of her daughter.

โ€œI am going to pray for him and his family,โ€ she said through tears. โ€œI may live to be well into my 90s, but he has robbed me of 10, 20, 30 or 40 years of being with my daughter. He robbed me. There is a hole left in my heart. Nothing has been able to heal that hole.

โ€œFor years I looked for my child,โ€ she said, โ€œand I couldnโ€™t find her. For her to come back home in bits and piecesโ€ฆโ€ her voice trailed off at that point and she could continue no further.

Charles County Sheriff Troy D. Berry announced that Posey was indicted Feb. 23 for murder in connection with the disappearance of Anderson, whose remains were found by a hiker near Purse State Park in January 2012.

โ€œOur heartfelt condolences go out to the family,โ€ Berry said. โ€œWe are praying for you. We realize this moment may be bittersweet.โ€

Detective John Elliott, lead investigator on the case, said they are still hopeful that people who were at a Nanjemoy party in 2011โ€”the last place Crystal was seen aliveโ€”will step forward with more information.

Elliott said Crystal was last seen leaving the party with Posey on the night she disappeared.

โ€œThey did know each other,โ€ he asserted.

Police say robbery was the apparent motive in the crime.

Posey is currently being held in the Maryland Department of Corrections on an unrelated armed robbery case that occurred in Charles County.

โ€œI am confident there are people out there who know something about Crystalโ€™s murder,โ€ Elliott said.

The detective said his office interviewed โ€œdozens and dozens of peopleโ€ regarding the case, but said he is certain there are others who know something they are not telling police.

โ€œThere are people out there who do know something,โ€ he said.

Elliott explained articles of clothing and items linking Posey to the scene of the crime have been gathered into evidence.

The investigation is ongoing and other people may be charged. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Elliott at 301-609-6515. Berry told Andersonโ€™s mother and father, Dennis Stevenson, that the officers of the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office will support them through the long weeks and months ahead.

โ€œThis agency will be with you during the trial and thereafter,โ€ he said.
