At 1:40 p.m. Dec. 15, Sgt. Force was patrolling Rt. 5 in Mechanicsville in her marked MSP K9 unit when she witnessed a vehicle traveling northbound Route 5 south of Route 6 in Mechanicsville with the driver not restrained by a seatbelt.
A routine traffic stop was initiated, contact was made with the driver, Nicole Renee Mcswain, 18 of Mechanicsville. On the initial contact a plastic bag was observed in the center console area.
When Sgt. Force contacted Mcswain a second time, the plastic bag was not observed. A K-9 scan was conducted and K-9 Maddie alerted on the center console area.
TFC Linger conducted a probable cause search and located a plastic bag containing marijuana in the area that K-9 Maddie alerted on. Mcswain was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Two additional bags of marijuana and a CDS smoking device were located on her person. She was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
