MORGANZA, Md. – Chopticon sophomore, Alyssa Hammett, is a part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. Unfortunately, Hammet’s stepfather suffered from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) which spawned her passion to fight for a cure. Now you have a chance to help a great cause while also enjoying some amazing magic tricks!
Alyssa’s stepfather was one of her best friends, he went through numerous treatments and transplants and fought hard to stay strong. What her family thought was a cure was not the miracle they had hoped for. He passed away on December 19th, 2022, where Hammett sat and said her last goodbye as he went.

His death was not in vain, however, and Hammett has turned a positive into a negative to raise awareness and funding while reaching out to any families who are in distress. More research needs to be done and that means more money needs to be raised to cure this horrible disease. That is why she is heading a campaign and working with Reggie Rice to keep the momentum rolling.
Reggie Rice is a local comedy magician located in Southern Maryland. Rice has brought joy through children’s shows, cruise ships, local theaters, and more. He wants to help this campaign exceed expectations; if anyone can call attention to a cause, it’s him!
When buying tickets, there is an option to give a $5-$10 donation to LLS.
VIP tickets are also available which will include a meet and greet with Reggie Rice! VIP ticket holders will be seated in the front row. VIPs will also have their picture taken with Rice, experience one of his illusions, and receive a signed poster.
There will be teachers from CHS involved in the show, a Trunk Fundraiser, (you buy a card, you trade that card for a key [ONLY ONE WORKS] and whoever holds the key that unlocks the Trunk wins everything inside of it! The Trunk includes LED lights, rare baseball cards, hair styling tools, board games, and much more!
