Holidays will be bright forย some disadvantaged and needy children this holiday season. A local Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive was held Dec. 13, at the Wal-Mart in California. Toys and clothesย were donated from Wal-Mart shoppers and community residents wishing to assist Marines in with their toy drive effort.

With the generous support of the community, the local Marines were able to collect over 1,000 new toys and over $700 in cash donations at the recent toy drive.

Through the gift of a shiny new toy, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation providesย joy and hope to disadvantaged children who might otherwise be overlookedย during the holidays.ย

The cash donations willย be used to purchase and distribute age and gender appropriateย gifts to economically disadvantaged children.ย  The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable natural resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

In 2007, Toys for Tots delivered toys to over 7.5 million children.ย  Unfortunately, with over 13 million children living in poverty, Toys for Tots needs your help more than ever to achieve our goal of delivering a toy to every child in need.
