
SOUTHERN MARYLAND — Summer camp is a core part of the childhood experience. There are a plethora to pick from in Southern Maryland, each offering an itinerary of unique activities. Some camps focus on the performing arts, while many are based around sports. Here is a list of unique summer camps in Southern Maryland that your kids won’t want to miss. Cool Kids Camp
The Cool Kids Camp offers daytime fun for 6- to 11-year-old children. Games, crafts, and even field trips await young minds as they explore activities indoors and outside. Chuck E. Cheese and the Climb Zone are only a few of the exciting places that campers will visit while enrolled in the Cool Kids Camp. The Children’s Theatre of Southern Maryland
If your child is a fan of the performing arts, then consider one of the camps hosted by the Children’s Theatre of Southern Maryland. For kids ages 8-12, you’ll find that “Schoolhouse Rock” is the perfect introduction to theater. “Monty Python’s Spamalot” is available for teenagers 13-18, while “Charlotte’s Web” is fun for the entire family, with an age range from 8-18. Throughout a two-week session, children will put on an exciting production. Building sets and auditioning are core activities, so your child may even gain new skills. You can register for 2025 here.

Camp Junior Sheriff
Middle schoolers in Calvert County should consider attending Camp Junior Sheriff. Teens will visit Cove Point Park to learn about the criminal justice system and its related occupations. Campers receive firsthand experience with law enforcement officers and a K-9 unit, among other volunteers.
With both physical and mental activities on the agenda, your son or daughter will gain a better understanding of America’s legal system and have a fun summer story to tell, too. Tadpoles “Junior Edition” Camp
Hosted by St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks, the Tadpoles Camp is designed for children in pre-K and kindergarten. Seven weeks of activities are available between June and August, and St. Mary’s Recreation and Parks also offers other Summer Fun Camps for children of all ages. Summer Knights Camps at St. Mary’s Ryken
The Summer Knights Camps are officially open for registration, as sessions start in mid-June. The Activity Camps at St. Mary’s Ryken are perfect for kids who require a mix of arts and crafts and physical sports. Fun activities are available in each camp, such as baking, basketball and even LEGO building. There’s a special theme every week, so campers won’t ever get bored. A talent show is held weekly to promote healthy competition, while Water Wednesday provides an opportunity for outdoor excitement. Charles County Recreation and Parks Summer Camps
Charles County Recreation and Parks has posted information about its upcoming camps for 2025, including a wide selection of daily activities centered around fun hobbies and sports. A standard day camp is available with the usual crafts and exercise, plus pool time, though there are also a few that offer unique opportunities to try something new.
