On Dec. 5, Sheriffโs Office Deputy Timothy Reese responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Lexington Park housing complex.
Upon arrival he made contact with the victim, and she stated that she was involved in a dispute with Melvin Lawrence Coleman, 23 of Lexington Park.
Coleman was seated inside the apartment with a handgun in his lap. As the dispute became more heated, it also became physical when Coleman began striking and choking the victim, police report.
Coleman fled the residence and was located at his home by police. Two fake handguns were recovered from the home and found to be pellet guns.
Coleman was charged with First and Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Concealed Deadly Weapon offense.
