Lexington Park, MD— On June 7, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Corcoran responded to North Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park after receiving a phone call from a victim who was assaulted and robbed.
Corcoran made contact with the victim who advised, he was sitting in his vehicle with the door propped open when a male opened the door and leaned inside. The man was later identified as Damon F. Graham, 33 of Lexington Park.
Graham demanded money and stated ‘give me some green’ as he pushed the victim down and pinned him to the seats. The victim grabbed a small tire iron and they began to struggle. The victim was able to push Graham away with his foot.
The victim was able to get the passenger door open and then strike Graham in the mouth with the tire iron. They began to struggle again, and Graham’s tank top was ripped off.
During the battle, “the victim’s wallet fell to the ground or was taken by Graham,” according to charging documents. The victim suffered swelling to his forehead and scratches to his arms and hands.
Graham was later located, arrested and charged with robbery, second-degree assault, theft less than $1000, and two counts of malicious destruction of property.
Graham has a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for July 7 in District Court. Graham faces a maximum jail sentence of 26 years and eight months and or a maximum fine of $4,000.
