ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Delegate Nino Mangione (R-District 42A) introduced HB 85 at a hearing of the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
HB 85 would prohibit the implementation of sanctuary policies in a county or municipality and require a county or municipality to fully cooperate with ICE regarding the removal of any individual present in the United States.
Mangione stated, “I never want any family to experience what Rachel Morin’s family experienced again. We have a responsibility to protect Marylanders and HB 85 is a necessary step in providing this protection.”
Rachel Morin was a 37 year old …Harford County mother of five children who was murdered while going for a run on the Ma and Pa Trail. Rachel was found raped and murdered along the side of the trail.
The accused murderer, Victor Martinez Hernandez, was in our country illegally. This accused murderer, linked to this and other violent crimes by DNA evidence, crossed our border illegally from El Salvador after a warrant for his arrest was issued there. This violent criminal was in our country illegally after being expelled three times previously.
“We must work with ICE and end this problem. Marylanders deserve to be safe in their homes and communities,” Mangione concluded.
People are murdered daily in this country. Being illegal has nothing to do with it. Run the stats if you wish – legal vs illegal crime.
But the murder by the illegal would not have happened if they didn’t invade our country.
What part of being in the country illegally don’t you understand? People who sneak into our country illegally break the law the minute they cross the border. It’s time to secure our borders 100%. We have an immigration system that work’s just fine. If you want to immigrate do it through the legal process, period. There’s a reason people sneak in, usually because they have a criminal background.
But they are here illegally. We could send the illegals to your place if you prefer.
Yes, you are right with the first sentence. However, the rest of your comment is completely false. It has a lot to do with illegals. If they weren’t here illegally then Rachel Morin and many others that have been killed just last year by illegals would still be here with us today. I don’t need to look at stats to tell me that illegals should not be within our community unvetted. If they have good tensions then sure, let them in and do it the proper way. You’re what’s wrong with this Country.
