RIDGE, Md. – On Monday, May 20. 2024,, members of the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad participated in a highly effective and collaborative mass casualty incident (MCI) drill. This exercise simulated a multiple vehicle accident involving numerous victims to ensure preparedness for real-life emergencies.
The drill featured a realistic scenario where a two-vehicle collision disrupted the Ridge VFD Carnival Grounds, filled with a crowd. The purpose of this drill was to practice MCI triage, refine extrication skills, and enhance crew communication and teamwork.

Firefighters and rescue personnel sprang into action, quickly extricating victims from the vehicles and the surrounding carnival area. Medical triage stations were established, and patients were efficiently categorized for treatment based on the severity of their injuries.
The success of today’s drill not only honed the skills of the participating teams but also reinforced the importance of preparation and teamwork in saving lives during real emergencies. Community members can feel reassured knowing that their local emergency services are well-prepared for any situation.
