Massive Fire Engulfs California Home Causing $450,000 In Damages, Two Injured

CALIFORNIA, Md. – The Office of the State Fire Marshal has concluded its investigation into a structure fire that occurred in California, determining the incident to be accidental.

The fire, which broke out on May 4, 2024, at approximately 6:47 p.m., occurred at a two-story home in the 21800 block of Magnolia Drive. The blaze was first noticed by a neighbor, who quickly alerted the authorities.

Despite the extensive damage caused by the fire, there were no fatalities. One adult and one firefighter were injured during the incident, but both are expected to recover fully from their non-life-threatening injuries.

Within 45 minutes, a team of 70 firefighters had managed to bring the fire under control. However, the estimated losses are significant, with the structure damage totaling $350,000 and an additional $100,000 worth of contents being destroyed.

The preliminary cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental. According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire originated in the home’s attached two-car garage.

The five occupants of the house were able to escape without injury. Assistance will be provided to the homeowners by the American Red Cross, as well as family and friends.
