MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A community is rallying around a local teenager critically injured in a severe head-on crash on Mechanicsville Road on Friday, May 31. The crash, involving two vehicles traveling in opposite directions, caused devastating injuries and claimed one life, leaving families and neighbors deeply shaken. A fundraiser has been launched to help cover mounting medical expenses and support the teen’s family during this difficult time.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene near the 25000 block of Mechanicsville Road to assist those involved and provide urgent medical care. They found one driver deceased at the scene and two others critically injured. Among the injured was Lilly, a juvenile passenger and cousin of the vehicle’s driver, Megan Nicole Rowley.

Lilly was airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she underwent emergency surgery for severe internal injuries, including liver lacerations and damage to her intestines, part of which was removed. She also sustained a broken collarbone, fractured nose, spinal injury, severe concussion, facial bruising, a deep leg laceration, and a large surgical incision on her abdomen.

She remains unable to eat or drink as her condition stabilizes and her intestines heal. Lilly is receiving care from pain management and mental health specialists and faces a lengthy recovery.

To help cover mounting medical expenses and support Lilly’s family, a GoFundMe page titled “Stand With Lilly and Her Mom in Tough Times” has been created. Lilly’s mother regularly updates the page with news on her daughter’s condition and recovery.

Community members are encouraged to donate or share the fundraiser at:

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating the crash, which claimed the life of 79-year-old Marjorie Swann Boyers of Chaptico.
