MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department will welcome homeschool families to Station 2 at 28165 Hills Club Road for a free fire prevention event beginning at 9:30 a.m. The program offers children and parents a chance to connect with their local firehouse while learning practical safety lessons.

The morning will feature a range of activities designed to be both educational and enjoyable. Firefighters will provide demonstrations on prevention, guide families through a tour of the firehouse and answer questions about how they prepare for emergencies. Children can climb aboard fire trucks, see the tools up close and even try on firefighting gear, giving them a hands-on look at the work volunteers do every day.

Families attending can also share time together with light snacks and goodie bags provided by the department. The event is intended to create a welcoming setting where students can learn about safety and meet the volunteers who serve their community.

The event is free to attend, but organizers request that families RSVP. To register, contact Cindy at 301-997-5722 or cturner@mvfd.com.
