
UPDATE: 3:57 p.m.- JOINT BASE ANDREWS, MD –– A D.C. Air National Guard F-16C fighter jet, assigned to the 113th Wing, at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, crashed about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 5 approximately six miles southwest from JBA in a wooded area. The aircraft was flying along with other DC ANG aircraft in a routine training mission in the greater Washington, DC area. The aircraft carried one pilot, who ejected and sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
According to Prince George’s County authorities, several homes were temporarily evacuated. The temporarily displaced residents were sheltered at a nearby elementary school.
Authorities are asking anyone who finds parts of the aircraft to call 240-857=8685.

The aircraft was flying along with other D.C. Air National Guard aircraft in a routine training mission. There were no casualties and the pilot ejected safely. A safety board will be convened to determine the cause of the accident.

Update: 10:18 a.m.: F-16 Falcon crashes near Temple Hills Road and Wooodelves Road. One pilot ejected and was transported to area hospital with no injuries. ย The F-16 is from the 113th Fighter Wing based at Joint Andrews /National Guard. ย It has been reported the jet did not hit any homes, but debris did. Fourteen homes were evacuated.ย
