The Maryland State Police (MSP) Forestville Barrack reported two people were killed Thursday evening, May 2 when the motorcycles they were riding collided with a van on northbound Route 301 at Short Cut Road in Brandywine. The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m.
According to a press release from the MSP, investigators reported a Chrysler Van “was at the intersection of southbound Route 301 and Short Cut Road. The van failed to yield to oncoming traffic from northbound Route 301.” Police reported two motorcycles, one bearing Virginia tags the other Maryland tags, “struck the side of the van at the intersection.”
Both motorcyclists—identified as Caleb Decentrey Williams and Herby Harold Bolick Jr.—were pronounced dead at the scene. The van driver—identified as Brian Michael Kauten—was injured and transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
No charges have been filed at this time. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper N. Murray.
