On December 10, 2011 St. Clement’s Island Museum openedย its doors to the public for a free open house. The day offered entertainment and education for people of all ages.ย
17th century re-enactor, Dr. Thomas Gerard,ย told Christmas stories as the children listened with glee. He followed byย doing a demonstrationย of heritage games where he showed children how theย game of marbles was played in the 17th century.ย
County Commissioner Cindy Jones sang Christmas carols along with visitors. They sang new songs as well as classic songs.
Families walked through the museum looking at the incredible doll and train displays. As they walked out they could enter a raffle for a bicycle for the kids, munch on some cookies, and drink a little holiday punch.
Thisย is the 26th year for the Christmas Doll and Train Exhibit. Hundreds of dolls and trains were on display, some big and some small. This year’s theme celebrates “Our Nation’s Heritage” and highlights America’s lighthouse service, volunteer fire departments, railroads, Girl Scouts of America, and more.
