The late spring celebrating in Southern Maryland will be cranked up a few notches Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8 at the Calvert County Fairgrounds. The 2014 Southern Maryland Sun and Music Festival will feature several bands and benefit numerous local charities.

According to a press release from event organizer Jim Zirakian, the local organizations that will benefit from the fest are Calvert Adult Day Care Center, Southern Maryland College Access Network, Project ECHO, Hunterโ€™s Heroes, Calvert County Relay for Life and Arc of Southern Maryland.

The stage act headliners include The Morrison Brothers, Tom Principato, Deer Park Avenue and The Kelly Bell Band. The two-day eventโ€™s emcee is James LePore from Metrocast Channel 10โ€™s โ€œThe Buzz.โ€

There will be plenty of food, beer and wine at the festival, which, in addition to the great blend of live music will include arts and crafts, a corn hole contest and a kidsโ€™ zone.

One-day admission to the 2014 Southern Maryland Sun and Music Festival is $25 per person, $40 per person for both days and a one-day backstage pass, which includes general admission and free refreshments, is $50.

Local wineries participating in the festival include Slack Winery, Solomons Island Winery, Fridayโ€™s Creek Winery, Cove Point Winery, Sangriadise, Perigeauxย  Winery and Harvest Ridge Winery.
