Arrest in southern Maryland

LUSBY, Md. — A Lusby woman is facing multiple theft charges after a criminal summons was issued in late April following an investigation into repeated shoplifting incidents at a local grocery store.

Jennifer Marie Green, 44, of Lusby, was charged after deputies investigated multiple thefts at the Weis Grocery store on Village Center Drive between March 21 and April 20, 2026.

According to charging documents, store management reported Green had been stealing items on multiple occasions over several weeks. The total value of the stolen merchandise was approximately $110.85.

Authorities allege Green used a method commonly referred to as “skip scanning,” placing items in her cart without scanning them at self-checkout. Investigators say she would scan some items, then distract employees while placing unscanned merchandise back into her cart before leaving the store.

Surveillance footage reviewed by deputies reportedly captured multiple incidents on March 21, April 5, April 6, April 7, April 8, and April 20.

During the investigation, Green allegedly admitted to the thefts, telling deputies, “I did it, there is no question about it,” and adding she had previously gotten away with similar behavior.

Court records show a criminal summons was issued on April 24, 2026.

Green is charged with multiple counts of theft under $100, as well as a theft scheme involving property valued between $100 and $1,500.

A hearing is set for June 8, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
