Maryland mail in ballot drop box

ANNAPOLIS, Md.  The State Board of Elections (SBE) is pleased to announce that nearly 600,000 voters have already requested a mail-in ballot for the upcoming Presidential Primary Election. This represents almost the same amount of requested mail-in ballots from the 2022 General Election. SBE anticipates the demand for requests to exceed the 2022 General Election and for the 2024 Presidential Primary Election to be the highest mail-in ballot election in Maryland’s history in a non-COVID year.

Ballots for the Primary Election started to be sent to UOCAVA voters on March 27, 2024. Voters who requested their ballot be delivered via the web for them to print and return in their own envelope began to be delivered today, March 29, 2024. The vendor is producing ballot packets by county for voters who requested their ballot be mailed and many have been sent today, March 29, 2024.

SBE had intended to send all mail-in ballots to voters on the same day for this election. However, staggered delivery dates per jurisdiction became necessary to ensure quality control. SBE’s vendor that sends the mail-in ballots by USPS to the voters experienced a delay in production related to ballot tracking. Ballot tracking is a top priority of the State Board to ensure the integrity and security of the mail-in ballot program.  This minor delay in the release of the mail-in ballots ensures that the USPS ballot tracking provided by the vendor is effective and accurate. No mail-in ballots were sent to a voter without this tracking method. Mail-in ballots that were requested in advance will continue to be sent as produced by the vendor with an end date of no later than Monday, April 8. Any requests for a mail-in ballot by a voter after the initial batch will be processed without any disruption to the normal business process and delivery schedule.  The deadline to request a mail-in ballot to be delivered by USPS is Tuesday, May 7 and to be delivered by web is Friday, May 10.

“Our goal is for voters to look to SBE as the trusted source for all things election related and to make the 2024 Primary Election process secure and transparent to ensure voter confidence,” said State Administrator Jared DeMarinis. “The tracking information on returned ballots will ensure confidence in the security of election administration for mail-in voting. As soon as a ballot is placed in the USPS system, we can track its delivery to the local board for canvassing. Once received at the local board, the voter will be notified of its receipt. So, make a plan to vote and VOTE.”

  1. I wonder how many requested under my name. Visit and vote in person with legal photo ID or nothing!

    1. and what tricks would those be? Whats the website where we can look- up the tricks?

    2. How come all the election fraud that came from the 2020 election came from Republicans? For instance, Brian Pritchard in Georgia who voted 9 times.

Stop the rhetoric and viewing the other side as the enemy and start working together.

    3. Which is funny because every time voter fraud is found its the GOP. Just look at Georgia. “Find me more votes!!” LOL

  2. the delegate vote is important/ different than the candidate vote because thats who goes to the National Convention (at their own expense). Uncommitted means ?. It means a candidate you don’t support. If you’re uncommitted you take a chance that someone else will be supported.

  3. FYI if you have an absentee ballot request, you should be able to put that form in the drop box.

  4. In the General election (November), we wil face a ballot question which could change the Maryland (state) constitution. Health not Harm has a write- up o on it, so you will understand it well before November. https://www.healthnotharmmd.org/ . Its about far more than reproductive rights.

  5. Mail-in ballots are the key for the party in power to gain their ends through easy-to corrupt mail-in ballots. Elections should be so simple:

Proof of citizenship. ONE vote with an ink notifier on a finger (or some such thing to show proof of having voted on Election Day). ZERO mail-in ballots except for those abroad at the time and military personnel. ZERO electronic voting… all verifiable paper ballots ONLY. Inspectors constantly present at every voting locale.

Most all other countries work this way. And, it is why are country is NOT working.

  6. Vote early and often by mail. This message approved by the MD Democratic Party…

    1. The MD Catholic Conference did include the state ballot question + how candidates feel about that, right? Why wait until the general election for that?

  7. I looked on Democrats. org and gosh darn it, I didn’t see a list of which candidates are on the ballot where, or a list of states and whos on the ballot there. So we could count which candidates are on the ballot where, or how many states each candidate is on the ballot. And ask, why didn’t so and so get on the ballot in ___________? Why didn’t so and so get on the ballot in ____________________? What? I can’t believe this! Yeah, if there were a state by state list, all put together.

  8. It looks like the Democrats have already made an endorsement. Go onto http://www.democrats.org, you’ll see Kamala and Joe laughing/ giggling, but about what? Their picture is there, Biden shirts are there. Are any other candidates on the website? There are several Democrat candidates trying to become President. Is the Party, the Democrat Party, endorsing Biden long before the Primary? Is the Party, not even giving the other candidates a chance? No list of Democrat President candidates on the website.
