UPDATE – 10/17/2025 – Sheriffโs Office Confirms Womanโs Death In North Beach Was A Suicide
NORTH BEACH, Md. โ Emergency crews from multiple counties responded Sunday morning after a person reported seeing a body in the water near the North Beach fishing pier. The person was initially reported by eye witnesses to have been some 20-25 feet from shore.
Calvert County emergency units responded to the 9000 block of Atlantic Avenue around 8:29 a.m. on October 5, 2025, for reports of a water rescue situation. According to dispatch, witnesses saw what appeared to be a body in the water visible from the boardwalk near the fishing pier.
Witnesses reported seeing the person in the bay waters but noted sun glare made it difficult to see clearly. Dispatch transmits that the caller could see “the butt and the back” of the person in the water. Furthermore, the individual was described as trapped between old rock formations and a seawall, not moving anywhere.
9-1-1 operators classified the incident as a coastal water rescue situation involving bay waters. Although the approximate distance from shore was reported as 20-25 feet, at the time of dispatch, the exact entry location and length of time the person had been in the water remained unknown.
The water rescue response required multi-jurisdictional coordination. Calvert County units responded along with mutual aid from Talbot and Dorchester Counties. Command operations were established quickly to manage the multi-agency water rescue response.
Witnesses remained on scene during the initial response, providing updates to dispatchers from a deck overlooking the water. The person’s condition and identity have not been officially released by authorities. The circumstances surrounding how the individual ended up in the water remain under investigation.
