GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A man died and more than a dozen others were displaced after a two-alarm house fire tore through a Glen Burnie home early Sunday morning, July 6, 2025.
Firefighters were called to the 1100 block of Crain Highway North at 3:38 a.m. after a 911 caller reported heavy flames engulfing a two-story, single-family home. Anne Arundel County Fire Department units arrived within minutes and encountered intense fire showing from the structure.
Family members on scene told arriving crews that one person was still inside. Firefighters made an immediate entry and found Julian Teletor Primero, 52, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Primero may have re-entered the burning home in an attempt to rescue relatives he believed were still trapped, fire officials said.
It took roughly 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Two other family members — an adult woman and a child — were transported to area hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the flames.
In all, 13 residents were displaced. The American Red Cross and the Anne Arundel County Mobile Crisis Team responded to assist the family with emergency services.
The home had working smoke detectors that alerted occupants to the fire, officials said. While the cause remains under investigation, fire officials said early indications suggest it was accidental.
This marks the sixth fire-related death in Anne Arundel County this year.
