ANNAPOLIS, Md. — After more than four years of planning, fundraising, and community dedication, the newly transformed Overflow Skatepark will officially open its gates in Annapolis on Saturday, June 7, with a high-energy celebration open to all.

Located at Truxtun Park, the skatepark—formerly known as Truxtun Skatepark—has been redesigned and rebuilt through a collaborative effort led by the Barish family, Annapolis Recreation & Parks, and the Tameron Barish Dream Skatepark Fund. The project honors the memory of Tameron Barish, a beloved member of the city’s skateboarding community, whose legacy helped inspire a reimagined public space.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a meet-and-greet at Pure Boardshop on Forest Drive, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park at 11 a.m., led by Mayor Gavin Buckley. The celebration will feature pro skaters from the Girl Skateboards team, including Sean Malto, Griffin Gass, and Breana Geering, who will join the public for open skate sessions before performing a full demo at 1 p.m.

Attendees can also expect free giveaways of Girl Skateboard completes and S-One helmets, courtesy of the Barish Fund, as well as live music, food vendors, games, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Sponsors and supporters of the project include Pure Boardshop, the State of Maryland—with funding championed by Delegate Dana Jones—Pillar Design Studios, and Artisan Skateparks. Their combined efforts helped bring the skatepark vision to life, ensuring it reflects both modern design and community input.

Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to reserve their tickets on Eventbrite in advance.

Overflow Skatepark is located at 300 Truxtun Park Road in Annapolis. City officials say the event is more than a grand opening—it’s a celebration of resilience, remembrance, and the skateboarding spirit.
