WALDORF, Md. – A serious crash on Route 301 at Smallwood Drive in Waldorf caused significant traffic disruptions Friday night, with emergency crews responding to reports of a pedestrian struck and critically injured.
According to dispatch, units were alerted at approximately 8:12 p.m. on March 14, 2025, to an accident involving a pedestrian and a car. Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including Charles County Fire and EMS, rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found one person in need of immediate medical attention.
Traffic along Route 301 was heavily impacted, with southbound lanes fully closed and northbound lanes partially shut down as crews worked the scene. Witness reports indicated a severely injured pedestrian, prompting an immediate request for a medevac.
Medical personnel assessed the injured party and determined that a helicopter transport was necessary due to the severity of the injuries. The patient was transported to Capital Region Medical Center under priority conditions.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes while officials worked to clear the roadway.
