Lexington Park, MD โ€“ State and local authorities are investigating an explosion which damaged a parked vehicle. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the incident occurred early Friday morning, July 24 on Gooseneck Road in Lexington Park. Investigators stated the incident was initially reported shortly before 3 a.m.

โ€œSheriffโ€™s deputies heard an explosion while on routine [patrol],โ€ stated Dfm. Don Brenneman. โ€œIn an effort to locate the source, they discovered [a] vehicle with post-blast damage to the front hood and windshield area.โ€

The damaged vehicle is described as a 2008 Nissan Altima. No injuries were reported.

The estimated damage to the vehicle is $2,500.
