
LA PLATA, Md. — The Port Tobacco Players will bring the musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” to the stage for a three-weekend run from March 7 to March 23, 2025.
Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Port Tobacco Players Theatre, located at 508 Charles St. in La Plata. Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for seniors (60 and older), students through high school, and military personnel with ID. Tickets can be purchased online at ptplayers.com.
The musical, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, explores the complexities of modern relationships through a series of comedic and heartfelt vignettes. Act I follows the ups and downs of dating and marriage, while Act II delves into the challenges of family life, from dealing with in-laws to raising children and even navigating romance later in life. The production, featuring orchestrations by Doug Katsaros, offers a humorous and relatable take on love, loss, and everything in between.
Stacey Swickert serves as producer, with direction by Kyle Rappe and music direction by Brian Kuhn.

Port Tobacco Players is a nonprofit community theater group that stages six productions per season at its downtown La Plata venue. The organization also operates the Encore and Encore Kids touring companies, which bring live performances to audiences throughout Southern Maryland. The group receives funding in part from the Charles County Arts Alliance, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the Charles County Charitable Trust.
