
WALDORF, Md. — Emergency crews responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash Monday morning, March 9, 2026, at the intersection of Crain Highway and Gillespie Circle that left several people injured and required firefighters to extricate multiple occupants from a vehicle that overturned.
The crash was reported at approximately 11:50 a.m. after several automatic crash notifications were received for a black BMW with multiple airbags deployed. Initial reports indicated a collision involving up to four vehicles, with one vehicle resting on its side and several occupants trapped inside.
Firefighters arrived to find at least three individuals trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Rescue crews immediately began extrication efforts while additional units were requested to assist.
One child seated in the rear of the vehicle was removed first, followed by efforts to free two adults trapped in the front seats. All occupants were successfully extricated as crews worked quickly to stabilize the vehicle and remove the patients safely.

Emergency medical personnel evaluated multiple individuals at the scene. A 9-year-old boy was transported to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., for evaluation. The boy was reported conscious, alert, and breathing. A 64-year-old woman was transported to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment, and a 52-year-old woman was also taken to the same hospital for evaluation.
All transported patients were reported conscious, alert, and breathing during transport.
Numerous fire and EMS units responded to the incident as crews worked to clear the crash scene and assist those involved. Command was terminated shortly after 12:25 p.m. once all patients had been removed and transported.
Traffic in the area of Crain Highway and Gillespie Circle was impacted while emergency crews worked the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
