ย Just after 11 a.m. Feb. 3, witnesses told police they observed a man breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot of the at the Leonardtown Governmental Center.
ย The vehicle owner confronted the man, Andrew Krell, 22, of Charlotte Hall, as he got back into his own vehicle.
ย The victim stood behind the Krellโs vehicle in an attempt to prevent him from leaving the area.
ย Police say Krell put his vehicle in gear and drove off, striking the victim in the leg.
ย Deputy Joe Labreck and Cpl. Harold Young responded to the area, observed the vehicle and conducted a felony stop. Krell and passenger Muneit Marilyn OโBrien, 18, of Charlotte Hall, were arrested.
ย BCI detectives conducted follow up investigation resulting in the service of two search warrants. Several items of evidence linking the suspects to others similar crimes in St. Maryโs and other jurisdictions were recovered.
ย Krell was charged with felony first-degree Assault, Theft Scheme over $500, Theft over $500 Malicious Destruction of Property Rogue and Vagabond and Possession of Burglar Tools. OโBrien was charged with one count of Theft Over $500.
ย Police anticipate more charges will be filed.
