ย Just after 11 a.m. Feb. 3, witnesses told police they observed a man breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot of the at the Leonardtown Governmental Center.

ย The vehicle owner confronted the man, Andrew Krell, 22, of Charlotte Hall, as he got back into his own vehicle.

ย The victim stood behind the Krellโ€™s vehicle in an attempt to prevent him from leaving the area.

ย Police say Krell put his vehicle in gear and drove off, striking the victim in the leg.

ย Deputy Joe Labreck and Cpl. Harold Young responded to the area, observed the vehicle and conducted a felony stop. Krell and passenger Muneit Marilyn Oโ€™Brien, 18, of Charlotte Hall, were arrested.

ย BCI detectives conducted follow up investigation resulting in the service of two search warrants. Several items of evidence linking the suspects to others similar crimes in St. Maryโ€™s and other jurisdictions were recovered.

ย Krell was charged with felony first-degree Assault, Theft Scheme over $500, Theft over $500 Malicious Destruction of Property Rogue and Vagabond and Possession of Burglar Tools. Oโ€™Brien was charged with one count of Theft Over $500.

ย Police anticipate more charges will be filed.
