The Charles County Sheriffโs Office is asking for assistance from the public in identifying two suspects in a theft investigation and Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
Officer J. Timko responded to Sams Club located at 2365 Crain Highway in Waldorf on Jan. 2 at approximately 7:15 p.m. for the report of the theft. Investigation revealed a 63-year-old Waldorf woman left the store and returned to her vehicle with items she purchased. She placed her purse on the passengerโs seat and left the door open while went to the back of her van and put her purchases in the trunk. When she was finished and returned to the passengerโs side to close the door, she discovered her purse had been stolen.
The suspect in the theft of the purse was seen on surveillance video following the victim out of Sams Club. He is described as a black male between 30 and 40 years of age and has a medium build. He wears glasses, has a beard and was wearing a white hat, dark pants and a white and gray striped button-down shirt at the time of the theft.
After the theft, the manโs accomplice, described as a black female between 20 and 30 years of age who has a large build, used the victimโs credit card to purchase a television at Wal-Mart in Waldorf. The Sheriffโs Office obtained a photograph of the suspect from a surveillance camera. A small purchase was also made at Hertz in Waldorf.
Photographs of the suspects have been posted on the Charles County Sheriffโs Officeโs Web site. Anyone who has information about the identity of the suspects or about the investigation is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffโs Office at 301-932-7777.
