
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Men’s Tennis Team (0-2) kicked off day one of the PTR Spring Tennis Fest with a matchup against Lynchburg (4-0) The Seahawks fell to the Hornets, 7-2.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Boris Palmade and Nick Rohr lost in the first doubles match in a tie break. The Seahawk duo lost the tie break, 7-4.
- Keawe Johnson and Daoud Alkhalidi fell short in the number two doubles match, dropping it 8-6.
- Andrew Hand and Max Esztergomi got the Seahawks on the board in the number three doubles match. Hand and Esztergomi won in a tiebreak by a score of 10-8.
Singles
- Boris Palmade dropped the number one singles match 6-4, 6-2.
- Nick Rohr won in dramatic fashion in the number two singles match, coming back in the second set to force a tie breaker. Roher won the tie breaker, 11-9.
- Max Esztergomi came up short in the number three match for the Seahawks, dropping set one 6-4 and set two 6-3.
- Keawe Johnson also made a comeback in the second set of the number four match after dropping the first set 7-5. Johnson won the second set 6-3, but went on to lose the tiebreaker.
- Daoud Alkhalidi dropped the number five match in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-4.
- Michael Shively dropped both sets in the number six match, falling 6-2 and 6-0.
