DUNKIRK, Md. – For the first time, Southern Memorial Gardens in Dunkirk, MD will participate in the national remembrance event, Wreaths Across America, taking place on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 12:00 PM. This heartfelt ceremony ensures that our nation’s heroes are never forgotten — by placing a fresh balsam wreath on veterans graves.
This year, 380 veterans’ graves at Southern Memorial Gardens are eligible for remembrance, and the goal is to cover each one with a wreath. Community members are encouraged to sponsor a wreath for $17, and thanks to a special partnership, $5 from each sponsorship will benefit Boy Scout Troop 903 of Huntingtown, MD — helping support the development of future community leaders.

In addition to general sponsorship, Southern Memorial Gardens accepts Grave Specific requests, allowing families and friends to ensure a wreath is placed on their loved one’s final resting place.
