Registration for St. Mary’s College of Marylandโs 39th annual Governorโs Cup Yacht Race has been extended to August 1. Qualified sailors who want to participate in the race are encouraged to register through the official Govโ Cup website, www.smcm.edu/GovCup, ย by 5 p.m. The race will be held on Aug. 3-4.
Govโ Cup is the oldest and longest overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay, starting from Annapolis, MD and ending at St. Maryโs River, St. Maryโs City. This yearโs race will also include a Potomac Leg; some competitors will start at Dahlgren, VA and end at St. Maryโs City along with the finishers from Annapolis. Progress of the race will be tracked in real-time through live GPS on the Govโ Cup website.
On Aug. 4, the last day of the race, from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. at the Collegeโs James P. Muldoon River Center, there will be a number of family-fun activities to enjoy.
