Registration for St. Mary’s College of Marylandโ€™s 39th annual Governorโ€™s Cup Yacht Race has been extended to August 1. Qualified sailors who want to participate in the race are encouraged to register through the official Govโ€™ Cup website, www.smcm.edu/GovCup, ย by 5 p.m. The race will be held on Aug. 3-4.

Govโ€™ Cup is the oldest and longest overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay, starting from Annapolis, MD and ending at St. Maryโ€™s River, St. Maryโ€™s City. This yearโ€™s race will also include a Potomac Leg; some competitors will start at Dahlgren, VA and end at St. Maryโ€™s City along with the finishers from Annapolis. Progress of the race will be tracked in real-time through live GPS on the Govโ€™ Cup website.

On Aug. 4, the last day of the race, from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. at the Collegeโ€™s James P. Muldoon River Center, there will be a number of family-fun activities to enjoy.
