LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The 78th Annual St. Mary’s County Fair will open Thursday, Sept. 18, at the fairgrounds in Leonardtown, running through Sunday, Sept. 21. Organized by the St. Mary’s County Fair Association, the event showcases agriculture, 4-H youth, community traditions and family entertainment.

This year’s fair highlights include livestock competitions, the Queen of Tolerance coronation, school exhibits, parades, horse pulls and long-standing traditions such as the 4-H Livestock Auction and Baby Show.

Daily Highlights at the 2025 St. Mary’s County Fair

Thursday, Sept. 18 – Opening Day

  • Queen of Tolerance Coronation
  • Horse shows
  • Miniature horse pull

Friday, Sept. 19 – School Day

  • Free admission for all K-12 students until 5 p.m.
  • Scholastic exhibits and contests
  • Middle school band concert
  • Chainsaw sculpture performances
  • 4-H Cake Auction
  • Coon Mule Jumping contest
  • Lightweight Horse Pull

Saturday, Sept. 20 – Parade Day

  • Parade through Leonardtown into the fairgrounds
  • Jousting Tournament, Maryland’s state sport
  • 4-H Livestock Auction
  • Chainsaw sculptures
  • Clydesdale demonstrations
  • Heavyweight Horse Pull

Sunday, Sept. 21 – Family Day

  • Baby Show and Cute Kid Contest
  • Antique Tractor Pull (tractors from 1959 and earlier)
  • Gospel music concert
  • Livestock shows continue

Basic Admission Details

  • Children under 3: Free admission
  • Children ages 3–11: $2 daily ticket, $5 season pass
  • Anyone age 12 and older: $10 daily ticket, $25 season pass

Special Note:
On Friday (School Day), elementary, middle and high school students are admitted free until 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., regular admission prices apply.
