St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks Unveils Fall 2025 Event Guide

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks has announced its lineup of special events for Fall 2025, offering a mix of family-friendly gatherings, competitive sports, and community celebrations.

The season begins with the Hollywood Sock Hop Dance on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Hollywood Recreation Center. Guests are encouraged to dress in retro 1950s attire for an afternoon of classic music and dancing designed for all ages.

The Family Fest on the Potomac will take place Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and Historic Park. This free event will feature live music, food vendors, children’s activities, and opportunities to explore the historic site’s lighthouse, pier, and kayak launch.

Golfers can participate in the Tee-It-Up for Kids Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 3, at Wicomico Shores Golf Course. The tournament will include prizes, giveaways, and food, with proceeds supporting the Recreation & Parks scholarship fund, which provides discounted program rates to families in need.

Rounding out the season is the Family Kickball Game on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Chancellor’s Run Regional Park. Teams of all ages are welcome to join, and those registering by Sept. 12 will receive a T-shirt in their preferred size.

Beyond these headline events, Recreation & Parks will offer a wide range of activities this fall, from sports and fitness programs to cultural experiences and outdoor adventures.

Additional Fall Programs and Activities:

  • Co-ed and women’s adult volleyball leagues (October–February)
  • Youth basketball and cheer programs
  • Biddy basketball for younger players
  • Gymnastics recreation classes
  • Dance programs, including tap, jazz, and hip hop funk
  • Learn-to-swim classes and lifeguard certification
  • Adaptive recreation such as Kids Club and adaptive kickboxing
  • Local park exploration and paddling scenic waterways
  • Access to the Three Notch Trail, public boat landings, and skate/BMX park at Nicolet Park
  • Guided tours at St. Clement’s Island, Drayden African American Schoolhouse, Old Jail Museum, and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum
  • Volunteer opportunities and seasonal special events at museum sites
