A 75-minute program celebrating Marylandโ€™s Emergency Medical Services System will air on St. Maryโ€™s County Government Channel 95 on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

The program highlights the heroic rescue and story of 14-year-old Tommy Rudowsky, of St. Maryโ€™s County, who was struck by a car and critically injured in December 2006. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers with the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad, the Advanced Life Support Unit and the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, along with staff from the Maryland State Police, St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Dept. and the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, he made a full recovery. December 2008 marks the two year anniversary of this tragic accident and heroic response.ย

The production was filmed in April 2008 at the Night for Heroes, an event which honored 44 people who received Hero Awards for Tommy Rudowskyโ€™s rescue. More information about the rescue and the event can be found at the website for the University of Maryland Medical Center at www.umm.edu. Click on news releases.ย
