Dr. Nancy Grasmick, State Superintendent of Schools, will announce that Maryland has been granted unique federal flexibility for students to use selected Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams as substitutes for High School Assessment (HSA) exams.

Dr. Grasmick is scheduled to make this announcement on Wednesday, July 26, at noon, at Watkins Mill High School in Montgomery County. Governor Gaston Caperton, President of College Board, and Dr. Jerry Weast, Superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools will also be in attendance at the Gaithersburg school on Wednesday.
