PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Two Lothian women are facing multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Prince Frederick that led to the discovery of suspected crack cocaine, paraphernalia, and a stolen license plate, according to court documents.
Chelsea Lynn Lawrence, 31, of Lothian, and Debrah Ann Lawrence, 50, of Lothian, were both arrested on Feb. 27, 2026, after deputies stopped a gray 2004 Dodge Dakota at the intersection of North Solomons Island Road and Stoakley Road.
According to the statement of probable cause, a Calvert County sheriff’s deputy observed the vehicle traveling with an obstructed Maryland registration plate. Tape was covering portions of the tag, including parts of letters and numbers. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver and passenger were identified as Debrah Ann Lawrence (driver) and Chelsea Lynn Lawrence (passenger).
During the stop, deputies noted Chelsea appeared extremely nervous, with visibly shaking hands and limited eye contact. With consent granted to search the vehicle, additional deputies responded to assist.
Inside the vehicle, authorities located multiple items consistent with crack cocaine use and possession. Items recovered included:
- A small metal tin containing burnt copper wire commonly used to smoke crack cocaine
- A metal push rod with suspected crack cocaine residue
- Two small white rock-like substances suspected to be crack cocaine in the center console
- A clear plastic container containing suspected crack cocaine in a purse on the passenger seat
Deputies also recovered a Maryland registration plate confirmed to have been reported stolen through the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
During questioning, Chelsea admitted paraphernalia located in the vehicle belonged to her and acknowledged the burnt copper wire was used for smoking crack cocaine.
Both women were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. While Chelsea was being processed, additional items were discovered in her pants pocket, including:
- An improvised glass smoking device containing white powder residue
- A folded paper containing a light brown powdery substance suspected to be heroin
- An electronic smoking device (vape)
Authorities reported the glass device shattered after being dropped during recovery, and the pieces were collected as evidence.
Chelsea Lynn Lawrence was charged with CDS: Possess — Not Cannabis, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement.
Debrah Ann Lawrence was charged with CDS: Possess — Not Cannabis, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and Theft: $100 to Under $1,500 in connection with the stolen license plate.
Both women were released on their own recognizance following their arrests.
A hearing is set for April 7, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
