INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A man is facing multiple charges, including first-degree assault and false imprisonment, after allegedly breaking into a hotel room and attacking his former girlfriend in a prolonged incident.
According to court documents, officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call at the Indian Head Inn on Strauss Avenue in the early morning hours of Feb. 24, 2025. Upon arrival, law enforcement met with the victim, who reported being attacked by her former boyfriend, Marc Roderic Long.
The victim told officers that Long arrived at her hotel room around 9:30 p.m., visibly intoxicated and aggressive. When she refused to open the door, Long allegedly forced his way inside, striking the door against her. Once inside, he verbally berated her before escalating to physical violence.
According to the victim’s account, Long grabbed her by the head and repeatedly slammed it against a wall. When she attempted to distance herself, he knocked her phone out of her hands, pushed her off the bed, and began slamming her head into the ground. She told officers that as she screamed for him to stop, Long covered her mouth with his hand, causing her to bite her lip, resulting in visible abrasions.
The attack continued as Long allegedly cornered her against the bed, slammed her head against a wall, and caused her to lose consciousness. When she regained awareness, she attempted to flee but was thrown to the floor. Long then allegedly began strangling her while she pleaded for him to stop.
In an attempt to defend herself, the victim grabbed a piece of plastic cutlery and pressed it against Long’s chest, causing a minor injury. She managed to escape to the bathroom and lock the door, but Long forced his way inside, shoving her against the bathtub and continuing the assault.
Despite her injuries, the victim managed to crawl between Long’s legs and attempted to escape through the front door, but he blocked her path. She then attempted to jump out of a window, but Long allegedly grabbed her and slammed her onto the floor again.
As the assault continued, Long allegedly grabbed a wooden plank and swung it at the victim. She managed to escape to the bathroom, where she locked herself inside and called for help.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene shortly after, and the victim emerged from the bathroom once she heard officers enter the room. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transported to Charles County Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities arrested Long at the scene, charging him with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and false imprisonment. Court records indicate that he is being held without bond.
Judge Andrea R. S. Watkins presided over the bail hearing on Feb. 26, 2025. Long remains in custody as he awaits his next court appearance on March 19, 2025, in Charles County District Court.
