Authorities have arrested 26-year-old Luigi Mangione in connection with the December 4th shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione was apprehended at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee recognized him from widely circulated surveillance images and alerted local law enforcement.
Upon his arrest, Mangione was found in possession of a 9mm “ghost gun” equipped with a silencer, clothing matching that of the suspected shooter, multiple fake identifications, and a handwritten manifesto criticizing the U.S. healthcare industry. The manifesto reportedly expressed grievances against corporate practices, suggesting a motive linked to dissatisfaction with the healthcare system.
Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot outside the Hilton Midtown hotel in Manhattan as he arrived for an investor conference. The assailant, described as a masked individual, fled the scene on a bicycle, prompting a multi-state manhunt. Investigators discovered that bullet casings at the crime scene were inscribed with messages critical of insurance practices, including the words “delay,” “deny,” and “depose.”
Mangione, a Maryland native and University of Pennsylvania graduate with a background in engineering and computer science, had been working as a data engineer. Associates described him as a well-educated individual who had recently exhibited anti-corporate sentiments.
Following his arrest, Mangione faces charges related to illegal firearm possession in Pennsylvania. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is coordinating with Pennsylvania authorities to pursue extradition for charges connected to Thompson’s murder. The investigation remains active as officials work to uncover further details surrounding the case.
UnitedHealthcare has expressed gratitude for the swift apprehension of the suspect and hopes this development brings some measure of closure to Thompson’s family and colleagues.

I can name 3 people personally united health care has murdered unethically but not legally and I am just one person about time people started targeting those that profit off our loved ones illness. I think people either don’t know or forget how many people United health care kills all the time. This Thompson is the man that oversees all the terrible things this insurance company does and oks it. I personally don’t believe in an eye for an eye, but karma is real
I used to have United Healthcare as a supplement to Medicare.
United Healthcare never paid for anything.
A year and a half of $235 thrown away because a billion dollar company wouldn’t live up to it’s obligations.
