Maryland State Police Trooper Ford was on routine patrol in the area of Route 301 and Acton Lane, when he observed a black Acura Legend with an inoperable break lamp and initiated a traffic stop.
The operator, George M. Gray, 54, of Indian Head, exited the vehicle, and ignored Trooper Ford’s verbal command to get back in the vehicle and then proceed to run from the vehicle through the neighborhood of Homestead Place.
Gray ran approximately 150 yards before Trooper Ford knock him to the ground. Gray tried to resist arrest, however, Trooper Ford apprehended Gray. A search incident to arrest revealed a clear plastic baggie containing crack cocaine.
Gray was transported to the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack for processing. He was then taken to the Charles County Detention Center for further processing.
