Great Mills, MD— On July 19, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Captain Alioto observed the defendant, identified as Hope G. Beggs, 61, of Lexington Park, operating a red Ford Ranger on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.ย

Alioto recognizedย Beggs as someone whose operating privilege is suspended throughย the State of Maryland. Alioto observedย Beggs enter into Lord Calvert Trailer Park.ย

Alioto contacted the St. Mary’s County Emergencyย Communications Center and confirmedย through the MVA/NCIC the Beggs’ operating privilegesย are currently suspended.ย

Alioto made contact with Beggs, who immediatelyย advised that she knows she is suspended. Beggs authorized a search and Alioto observed, “a folded piece of cardboard from her right rear pocket,” according to charging documents.

ย Alioto also recovered a straw whichย had a white powdery residue inside. It was determined to be powder cocaine. Beggs admitted to using the straw to ingest (snort) powder cocaine into her body.

Beggs was placed under arrest and was transported to the St.Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possessionย not marijuana, CDS possession of paraphernalia, and failure to display license on demand.
