Whether you’re cruising into a local car show honoring veterans, dancing under the stars at the 25th annual Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival, or exploring STEM activities with the kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Things To Do In Calvert County

Pirate’s Cove Make & Take: Think Pink Party! on July 11 (2 to 4 p.m.), located at Imaginarium Indoor Playspace, 13360 HG Trueman Rd, Solomons, MD – Kids can dive into pink-themed fun with DIY flamingo plushies, decorate-your-own tote bags, cotton candy treats, and full access to all-day open play. Space is limited. 

SHARKFEST 2025 on July 12 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), located at Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Rd S, Solomons, MD – See live sharks, meet marine experts, and explore hands-on exhibits, games, crafts, and special guests during this family-friendly day of jawsome fun. Advance tickets recommended.

Movie on the Beach: Wicked on July 12 (7:30 p.m.), located at North Beach, 9023 Bay Avenue, North Beach, MD – Bring your blankets and beach chairs to enjoy a magical evening screening of Wicked right on the sand. A family-friendly movie night with a view. Free admission.

Honoring Local Heroes Car Show on July 13 (9 a.m.), located at Calvert County Fairgrounds, 140 Calvert Fair Drive, Prince Frederick, MD – Hosted as part of a Girl Scout Gold Award project, this car show brings the community together to honor active military and veterans. The event will feature military-support charities, a variety of cars on display, and fundraising efforts to create tribute banners recognizing local service members. Creature Feature on July 13 (10:15 a.m. & 11:15 a.m.), located at Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Road S, Solomons, MD – Discover a new animal not normally on display as part of the museum’s Monthly Mystery Creature Feature. Includes take-home coloring pages and estuary education for all ages. Included with museum admission.

Game On! on July 14 (2 to 4 p.m.), located at Twin Beaches Branch – Program Room, 3819 Harbor Rd, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Teens and tweens can drop in for an afternoon of friendly competition and board game fun. A great way to socialize and discover new favorites.  Free admission.

Tween Summer Book Fest: Plain Jane and the Mermaid on July 16 (6:30 to 7:30 p.m.), located at Twin Beaches Branch – Meeting Room West, 3819 Harbor Rd, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Tweens can dive into Vera Brosgol’s Plain Jane and the Mermaid with games, themed activities, and snacks during this monthly book club. The first 10 registrants receive a free copy of the book. Registration required.

Art in the Park on July 17 (10 a.m. to noon), located at Kellam’s Complex, 3825 Gordon Stinnett Ave, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Dive into creativity with free hands-on crafts like tie-dye, bracelet making, kindness rock painting, and more. A fun outdoor morning for all ages.  Free admission.

Railway Museum Children’s Program on July 17 (10 a.m. to noon), located at Kellam’s Field, 3825 Gordon Stinnett Avenue, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Enjoy storytime, crafts, and hands-on activities for kids. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Northeast Community Center. Free admission.

Rock the Dock: Outlaw State of Mind & Beautiful Crazy on July 17 (7 p.m.), located at Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort Bandshell, 4160 Mears Ave, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Enjoy a tribute to Chris Stapleton with soulful vocals, top hits, and an electrifying stage show. A full-scale concert experience set against a scenic waterfront backdrop. Tickets required.

WGTS 91.9 Ice Cream Tour on July 11 (3 to 7 p.m.), located at La Plata Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne Street, La Plata, MD – Free ice cream, music, games, and family fun courtesy of WGTS 91.9. Stay after for the Summer Concert Series featuring the 257th Army Band. Free admission.

257th Army Band – Town of La Plata Summer Concert Series on July 11 (7:00 p.m.), located at La Plata Town Hall Lawn, 305 Queen Anne Street, La Plata, MD – Enjoy a patriotic evening of music performed by the 257th Army Band’s brass and wind ensemble. Part of the weekly Friday summer concert series running through August 23. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Free admission.

JCPenney Kid Zone – Free Craft Activity on July 12 (11 a.m. to noon), located at JCPenney, St. Charles Towne Center, 11110 Mall Circle, Waldorf, MD – JCPenney’s Kid Zone offers hands-on fun for kids with a take-home craft, ID badge, lanyard, and collector’s pin. Buffalo Soldiers Meet and Greet on July 12 (noon to 5 p.m.), located at Maryland Veterans Museum at Patriot Park, 11000 Crain Highway, Newburg, MD – Join fellow history enthusiasts to honor the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers during this special meet-and-greet event. All ages welcome; under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Free parking on site. Free admission.

Summer Sunset Cinema: Mufasa – The Lion King on July 12 (gates open at 7 p.m., movie begins at dusk), located at The Shops at Waldorf Center, hosted by REAL Church Waldorf – Enjoy an evening under the stars with food trucks, lawn games, crafts, face painting, and a family-friendly movie. Sundays at Smallwood Village Swim Club on July 13 (noon to 8 p.m.), located at Smallwood Village Swim Club, Waldorf, MD – Cool off with a full day of poolside fun for the whole family. Up, Up, and Away! with Mad Science of DC on July 15 (2 to 3 p.m.), located at P.D. Brown Memorial Branch, 50 Village St, Waldorf, MD – Explore the science of air and flight through exciting demonstrations, including exothermic reactions and a real hovercraft. Kids’ Summer Show: Movie on the Lawn on July 17 (10 a.m.), located on the West Lawn of La Plata Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne Street, La Plata, MD – Part of the Kids’ Summer Shows series, this event features a kid-friendly outdoor movie. Things To Do In St. Mary’s County

Jazz in the Neighborhood feat. US Navy Band: The Commodores on July 11 (6 to 8:30 p.m.), located at St. Clement’s Island Museum, 38370 Point Breeze Road, Coltons Point, MD – Kick off the 25th Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival with a free waterfront concert featuring The Commodores of the U.S. Navy Band and a special opening performance by the St. Mary’s Ryken Jazz Band. SMTMD Contra Dance on July 12 (7 to 9:30 p.m.), located at Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 37497 Zach Fowler Road, Chaptico, MD – The evening starts at 7 pm with a half hour beginner’s dance workshop followed by live music performed by the SOMD Open Band and dancing from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Bee Workshop and U-Pick Blueberry Event on July 12 (10 a.m.), located at Barefoot Farms, 21851 Oakley Road, Avenue, MD – Spend the day outdoors with access to the farm, playground, and a U-pick blueberry experience that includes two pints per person.
