Bird Banding on July 2 (7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), located at Gatewood Preserve, Calvert County, MD – Join naturalists for a behind-the-scenes look at bird research through the Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) program. Participants will hike 4–5 miles on natural trails and observe bird banding up close. For ages 12 and up. Registration required by June 30. Free for members; $8 per person for nonmembers.

Firework Experience on July 3 (6:30 p.m.), located at Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort, 4160 Mears Ave, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Celebrate Independence Day early with a waterfront evening of live music, family-friendly fun, and prime viewing of the Town of Chesapeake Beach’s annual fireworks show. Fireworks Cruise on July 3 (7:30 p.m.), departing from Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort Marina, 4155 Mears Ave, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Set sail aboard the Miss Lizzy for an unforgettable evening on the Bay with front-row views of the Chesapeake Beach fireworks display.
