Three Arrested In Late-Night Annapolis Vehicle Theft Investigation

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Anne Arundel County Police arrested two men and a juvenile late Monday night following a reported theft from a vehicle in the Southern District, recovering a substantial amount of stolen property in the process.

The incident unfolded just after 11:20 p.m. on June 30, when officers responded to an active theft from an automobile. Upon arrival, officers quickly apprehended two individuals at the scene. A third suspect fled but was later located and taken into custody.

Police recovered a large quantity of coins and other personal belongings believed to have been taken during the theft.

Two of the suspects, identified as Carlos Enrique Pleitez, 18, of Annapolis, and Nelson Vladamir Amaya, 28, of Millersville, are both facing misdemeanor charges including trespass on posted property and rogue and vagabond—a term used in Maryland to describe individuals suspected of loitering or prowling with intent to commit theft.

Pleitez was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled for a court appearance on August 20 in Annapolis District Court. Amaya is scheduled for trial on September 5.

The third suspect, a 16-year-old male, was cited and released to a guardian. Due to his age, his identity is being withheld.

Authorities did not disclose whether the suspects were connected to additional thefts in the area, but the investigation remains active.
