LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Authorities say a tractor-trailer hauling a load of lumber ran a red light on Point Lookout Road, leading to a crash that left an SUV overturned last week.
Maryland State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to the intersection near Fairgrounds Road around 11:45 a.m. on March 6, 2025 after reports of the two-vehicle collision. According to a preliminary investigation, the northbound tractor-trailer failed to stop at a traffic signal. A vehicle traveling on Fairgrounds Road struck the trailer’s rear section, causing it to overturn.

The SUV’s driver was taken by ambulance to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, though the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. No other injuries were reported.
Police cited the tractor-trailer driver for failure to stop at a red light. The investigation remains ongoing.

Thank you, MSP. These red-light runners are bad. See this happen every day I go out on the road. Maybe it’s time for some technology to stop them.
maybe it’s time you stay home or get off the road. People wouldn’t have to run red lights if the slow drivers would stay in the slow lane.
There’s a slow lane, and fast lane, at that intersection? I drive through there regularly and have never seen multiple travel lanes in the same direction. 🤔
Even if the trailer ran the red light you indicated that the SUV struck the back of the trailer, which means they were also not paying attention and should of had enough time to stop. The speed limit isnt that much on the road.
