Lusby, MD – Calvert Cliffs returned to 100 percent power Monday afternoon, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m.ย Technicians repaired and fully tested plant equipment prior to safely returning the unit to service.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, at 10:24 p.m. the unit automatically shut down due to a leak of hydraulic fluid in the system that opens and closes turbine steam valves on the non-nuclear side of the plant.
All systems responded as designed. Unit 1 remained at full power. The Unit 2 shut down did not impact electrical service to Exelon customers.

Calvert Cliffs is located on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County and is Marylandโs only nuclear energy facility.ย The station is home to two pressurized water reactors capable of generating 1,756 megawatts combined. Units 1 and 2 began commercial operation in 1975 and 1977.
