WALDORF, Md. — A woman was hospitalized Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, 2025, after being attacked by a Cane Corso dog in a Waldorf cul-de-sac.

The incident was reported shortly after 6 a.m. on Hatfield Court, where callers told 911 operators the animal tried to “rip [the victim’s] arm off.”

First responders staged nearby as the dog continued to roam loose, preventing medics from reaching the victim right away. Deputies later confirmed the dog belonged to a neighbor, who came outside and secured it.

Animal control officers subsequently seized the dog as part of the ongoing investigation.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the UM Charles Regional Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Tuesday’s case follows two separate dog attacks in Charles County last week.

  1. Cane Corso, the guard dog that needs a bunch of exercise and mental stimulation, a job or a hiking/running companion, definitely not to let loose outside. I would take 5 pit bulls over 1 cane corso.
These dogs needs to be registered and the owners would need training as well as acreage like someone who wants to get into exotics. Might as well have a tiger as a pet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
