WALDORF, Md. — Weis Markets will open its newest Southern Maryland store at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at 4535 Fairway Village Place in Waldorf, marking another major retail addition in the rapidly growing St. Charles corridor.
The opening follows the company’s October 2025 grand opening of its Leonardtown store in St. Mary’s County, which included a preview event and ribbon-cutting ceremony. With the addition of Waldorf, Weis continues expanding its Maryland footprint in high-growth communities.
Founded in 1912 and headquartered in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Weis Markets operates more than 190 stores across seven states. The regional supermarket chain has steadily increased its presence throughout the Mid-Atlantic, focusing on modern prototype stores designed to serve expanding suburban markets.
The Waldorf location will offer fresh produce, full-service meat and seafood departments, a bakery, deli and a wide assortment of grocery staples. Weis private label brands will be stocked alongside national brands. The store is also expected to feature prepared foods and grab-and-go selections. Many Weis locations offer pharmacy services and online ordering for added convenience.
The new store serves as the anchor tenant for The Shops at Fairway Village, a $115 million mixed-use development positioned at the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and Billingsley Road near U.S. Route 301. When completed, the project will include approximately 120,000 square feet of grocery, restaurant and retail space, along with 186 residential units.
Developers say the project is expected to generate more than 300 jobs and strengthen the retail landscape in Charles County.
“This area of Charles County remains under-retailed and, with Weis Markets’ first full-size prototypical store in the area, we have attracted a regional supermarket brand known for its wide selection of products, value-pricing and customer-first philosophy that is also active in the community,” said Drew Gorman, principal with MCB Real Estate.

In a press release issued by MCB Real Estate, Gorman added: “Supermarkets are typically the recognized face and the highest traffic generator for shopping centers, and Weis Markets is the perfect fit as the anchor for The Shops at Fairway Village. The additional restaurants and service providers are predominantly a combination of national, regional and local companies that demonstrate the strength of the regional shopping landscape, and we believe this first wave of tenant signings will draw other retailers and restaurants to join and complement the current shopping mix.”
Leases have been signed with a mix of restaurant, retail and service providers, reflecting continued commercial momentum in the St. Charles and Waldorf trade area. The development is designed to serve surrounding residential neighborhoods while drawing customers from across Southern Maryland.
